keep that in mind.they will also eat your rummies as they get bigger if they can catch them.and they will certainly try. I have a 180 and have kept many hundreds of small fish but I still tend to overfilter.angels on the other hand can be large and will produce a lot of waste. Will you run a UV and heater from the canister? I personally think both of your choices may be too small for your goals and tank size.will you use c02? How will you diffuse it? the gph will be a bit optimistic from the mfg and head height, etc may also reduce a bit.better to overfilter than under. The more input flow you have the more output you can have and more flexibility if desired.you never know if things will change in the future. You can then feed your dual intake eheim models if desired.Or split to also feed a UV or hydor inline heater. People will see it got a good review here and it might be worth buying.I am doing a custom 220 and decided NOT to drill the bottom.this was after much thought and 'discussion' here and with Tom.I had wanted from the start to go that route but decided not to.but my application and configuration/goals are different than yours.ġ.5 or 2" bulkhead for the intake. I see now there is some very good filters on the market so hopefully it make life a bit easyer if a bargain comes up There are filters i didn't know about untill the likes of yourself and others replyed I dont mind how people reply your info and knowledge is great All in all though a great filter that done it's job well. Didn't mind the valves on the pipes or to prime I had to suckling through the return pipe to get the syphon going but there were no separate media baskets which I found a pain.

I also used 1 of the smaller eheim range that also brought dislikes. In saying that though it's a brill filter that I had going on up to a 240L tank without issues, savage range of media for it too so would still rate the filter well. I've used the Jbl e900 but as was pointed out before, besides trying to get it to prime okay the primer gets stuck and not too easy to fix.

don't they have the dump function too for water changes n that, sounds good to me. Like the fx5 would probably be the best of its size for obvious reasons whereas someone else mightn't have used 1 so think their jbl1501 or 1901 is better because their more affordable yeno.Īnyways I've used 1501 and found them good but not the build quality of the fx5 and without the self primer can be a pain for trapped air, also the fx5 re primes itself every so often which is handy. In all honesty it's difficult to compare externals of different sizes etc but to compare them within their size catagories on efficency/ functionality and ease of use sounds a bit more a propriety I supose.
